Karuizawa Town

Old Mikasa Hotel Old Mikasa Hotel is a nationally-designated important cultural asset. It is the only remaining wooden hotel of purely Western design in Japan. Opened in 1906, it operated for 64 years.	Golf Here golfers enjoy their sport in a magnificent natural setting. There are a number of courses to choose from.
Shaw Memorial Chapel The local people established this monument in 1903 as a tribute to the achievements of Shaw, who built the foundations of today's Karuizawa.	Tennis Karuizawa is known as a wonderful resort spot for tennis, and there are a great many tennis courts in the town.
St. Paul Catholic Church This church has been loved by the local people since its establishment in 1935.	Curling Karuizawa served as host for the Olympic curling event at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. Curling has been popular here ever since then.
Ohga Hall To achieve an ideal acoustic level, the Hall was built in the shape of a pentagon. Pine is a product of Nagano, and here fallen pine needles are used for the interior and exterior walls.	Skiing The ski slopes first open in mid-October. Visitors can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and sledding.

Shopping Featuring a total of approximately 190 stores, both outlets and regular retail shops, the shopping mall in front of Karuizawa Station attracts large crowds of shoppers	Shiraito Falls Measuring three meters high and 70 meters across, this waterfall has its source in the Yukawa river. A magnificent sight, the underground water of this fall splits over the rock face, making the water appear like white threads.
Kyukaruizawa Shopping Street This charming shopping area features a wonderful variety of original shops, including boutiques, time-honored bakeries, cafes, souvenir shops	Usui Pass Scenic Viewpoint Located between Nagano and Gunma Prefectures, this spot offers spectacular scenery, and it!s known as a great place to watch the sunset.
Jam Jam made from fresh fruit is a popular souvenir, and there are some varieties here that you can!t find anywhere else.	Kumoba Pond This pond, also known as ''Swan Lake,!! is the perfect spot for a walk in the woods. It features a path whereby visors can circle the lake in about 20 minutes.
Karuizawa Carving Karuizawa carving was designated a traditional handicraft of Nagano Prefecture in 1983. It comes in a variety of items─everything from small pieces such as hand-held mirrors and teacups and plates to large items such as bureaus.	Hot Springs After enjoying sports and leisure, visitors can refresh themselves with highly therapeutic hot springs. Each spring has its own special atmosphere.
